Suggest Medication For Runny Nose And Fever In An Infant

I have a 10 month old daughter. She has runny nose and fever. Her fever has increased over the last 10 hours or so. Last measurement was 100.8 under arms. Have been giving her babygesic 100mg paracetamol 1 ml dose every six hours. Have also given her one dose of 0.3 ml Alex drops. What medicines / doses should I administer now.

Hello. Good day. Thanks for writing to HCM. I am Dr Praveen and I will be answering your query today.
Please give her paracetamol 6th hrly. You can calculate the daily dose by multiplying her weight by 50. Say she is 4 kg she will need 200 mg per day. So you need to give her 50 mg every 6 hrs. That will give a better coverage.
You will also need to use saline nasal drops 2 drops every 6th hrly into both nostrils. Keep alex drops only for the night. Use that sparingly. It makes children very irritable and drowsy.
If she feeds less, has vomiting or seems very irritable or has less urine output please see a pediatrician.
Wishing you good health.
Warm regards.
