Suggest Medication For Severe Cough And Sore Throat In Child
My daughter has a bad sore throat and is coughing. However, the cough is dry so far. She is 9 years old. I have been giving her Benadryl during the day and Peritone CS in the night. Can I give her S-Mucolite to get the cough out as I am worried she might start wheezing now.
Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of severe cough and sore throat which could be due to streptococcus infection or infection of upper respiratory tract. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to avoid eating spicy and heavy food. Maintain hygiene rinsing with antimicrobial mouthwash. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper diagnosis. You should go for blood and sputum test. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. Do warm saline gargles several times a day. You should take combination of levocetirizine along with amoxicillin for 3-5 days. Milk boiled with a pinch of turmeric taken at bedtime will be helpful for you.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
