I am a OBGYN nurse practitioner and I have a 41 year old female patient with severe ear infection in the ear canal with inflammation. She was instructed to go to Urgent care. They prescribed 10 days of Cefuroxime Axetil and currently on day 5. She still reports severe pain. Patient informed me that she was not given antibiotic drops due to a sore in her canal. She was instructed to see an ENT, but has no insurance. Is she not able to use the antibiotic drops or what other antibiotics would be recommended?
