Suggest Medication For Severe Pain During Teething In An Infant
My grandson is 8mth old and his 8th tooth is coming through, he screams with pain, panadol and other baby pain relief dont seem to be doing anything, I have friends that have given stop pain to babies with the dose cut in half. will this do him any harm.
As per your query your grandson have symptoms of severe pain during teething is because of soreness and swelling in the gums before a tooth comes through. These symptoms usually begin about 3 to 5 days before the tooth appears and they disappear as soon as the tooth breaks the skin.
I would suggest you to
1) Use a clean finger to gently rub your baby's gum for about 2 minutes at a time.
2) Provide safe objects for your baby to chew on, such as teething rings.
3) If symptoms of teething and pain are severe give your baby an over-the-counter pain reliever that is labeled for his or her specific age. Don't give aspirin at all as it can cause Reye's syndrome.
4) Put completely frozen objects directly on the gums.
Symptoms of drooling can also occur and need not to worry about that its all natural. Visit pediatrician once if symptoms keeps on persisting.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
