Hello,

Yes, you can take Regestrone whose generic name is norethindrone acetate to postpone or delay your periods. Tab. Regestrone can be taken for at least 4 days before your expected menstrual period and continuously until the time you want to postpone. Once the tablet is stopped, you will get your period within 2 -3 days.

Yes, it is safe and you can take it from 5th May or 6th May up to date of postponement. It is safer drug but I would like to mention the side effects that may occur when taken for long time which are edema, weakness, anorexia, amenorrhea, breakthrough bleeding, change in menstrual flow, spotting, deep vein thrombosis, thrombophlebitis, depression, dizziness, headache, nervousness, somnolence, and breast tenderness.

This drug should not be taken in the following conditions which are documented hypersensitivity, liver disease or impairment, undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding, pregnancy, a history of, suspicion of, or known malignancy of the breast, arterial thromboembolic disease (stroke, MI), thrombophlebitis, DVT/PE, thrombogenic valvular disease, and cerebral apoplexy.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
