Suggest Medication To Postpone Periods

Hi Doc, I am using a progesterone - infused IUCD. I get irregular spotting. I am on a trekking trip, and noticed some spotting today. I am not sure whether my periods have already started! Is there any drug like OCP or norethisterine or any other that can stop this for now??

Hello,

Since you already have IUCD, u don't think this spotting is your period. This spotting is mostly due to infection.

IUCD is very common to cause uterine infection and this can ultimately lead to spotting.

So in my opinion, you should definitely consult your gynecologist and get done a vaginal examination to rule out infection. If needed change the IUCD.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
