Suggest Medication To Soften Mucus To Reduce Coughing Episodes

I have been having lots of allergy episodes with long coughing spells. While in amsterdam I picked up a package of Strepsils and in Italy Coryfin both of which helped soften mucus thus helping with the coughing. Are the same meds available in this country with the same ingredients? Thanks, Judith
