I was taking 50 mg of losartan for two yers. sll of sudden, I started hair loss on the top and sides of my hed. my scalp itches and I can see my scalp in places. My Dr. changed me to amlopidine for two months I I started back pain and swelling of the legs and feet and bruised looking areas on my legs. Now I am bsck on 25 mg of losartn and monitoring my bp until Dec. 7th. Is there any blood pressure mediction which does not have serious side effects?

DEAR FRIEND
if losartan is controlling your BP well there should be no reason to change it. hair loss is one of the very rare reports side effect.
the pattern of hair loss you describe is a typical male pattern which will happen in males and is genetically determined.
it would have helped if you had shared your age and BP as well.
though there are many other alternatives available for keeping the BP in control, this you will have to discuss with your treating physician.
I find this answer helpful
