my wife occasionally gets this lump at the base of her neck on the right side where the spine and skull meet. When this happens, she gets severe headaches, and she says the lump is painful. We've been trying to figure out what this might be. Any suggestions?
Such recurring and painful lump is most likely a sebaceous cyst which gets infected from time to time. When this happens, due to pus appearance the pain appears along with swelling and redness. Sebaceus cyst should be removed by a general surgeon otherwise it will be still coming back.
Hope this will help. Regards.
