Suggest Medications For Restless Leg Syndrome While Being On Statins
I have had a big problem with restless leg syndrome for over 20 years, ever since taking statins for hypercholesterolemia. I am currently taking Gabapentin, Pramipexole and Rotigitine to no avail. Others have recommended Hylands herbal tablets. Are they effective, and are there contraindications?
- Restless leg syndrome is not known to be associated with statins. Pramipexole is one of the options that usually works as a treatment - Another option to explore with your PCP is propranolol - I would advise you to try all allopathic options before trying herbal treatments as they are generally not studied and tested adequately. There is also a lack of quality control with them.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
