Suggest Medications For Stomach Upset In Children

9 year old son with stomach upset/pain for 5 days. He does not throw up, but feels like he might. No fever or other symptoms. It happened a month ago also. Is it a virus? Anything I can give him? He had one acidophilus yesterday. Didn't help. Any suggestions? Thanks

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It seems to be stomach colic from viral infection. In our clinic, we recommend the following dietary measures after which further course of action may require.
- Allow him more liquids in sessions including boiled water, mung water,
lemon juice.
- Serve light digestible diet till possible.
- Avoid dairy fat, junk foods, excess sugar which hamper digestion.
Consult later your pediatrician for medication requirement in the form of
antispasmodic medicine or antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
