Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I suffer from severe abdominal pain which my doctor has diagnosed as IBS. I am going though a particularly bad flare up tonight and had to take phenohytro around two hours ago. The pain has subsided a bit, but I am also having issues with joint pain and a UTI right now. Is it safe to take an OTC pain reliever?
There is no harm to take OTC painkiller like paracetamol for the joint pain if needed.
However, if you have symptoms of UTI and joint pain, this should be investigated properly as to treat the UTI with antibiotics if it's proved and also to rule out reactive arthritis that is arthritis that sometimes occurs with certain bugs causing UTI.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
