I suffer from ADD and was on medication as a child. ADD runs all over in my family. My primary doctor will not prescribe it to me without test after test after test and I will be starting my college classes soon. I am in desperate need for my meds. Any suggestions?
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. ADD or attention deficit disorder usually improve in teenage but sometimes it can persist beyond teenage and result in adult ADD. For ADD treatment you have to visit a psychiatrist for evaluation and help. Hyperactivity, inattention and impulsivity etc are cardinal symptoms of ADD. For treatment medicines like Attenterol, Clonidine, sometimes antipsychotics like Risperidone etc are used. These medicines help to improve focus. Stimulant medicines like Amphetamines are found to be very useful in ADD and result in improvement in focus and reduce hyperactive behaviour. These drugs carry abuse potential so should be taken with proper prescription only. Visit a psychiatrist for evaluation and for prescription of these drugs.
Thanks, I hope this helps you.
Take care
