Hello. I am 20yr Male who is suffering from tachycardia, heart palpitations, anxiety, and general worry about my heart health quite frequently over the past 2 months. I am currently taking 1mg Xanax extended release for my anxiety, which i am assuming helps, but I have yet to notice any change in anxiety from when i take it and dont. Often times I break one in half and crush it up and take it with water if I am having an anxiety attack because the dosage just isnt doing it for me.
My heart rate is usually between 90-110 and often shoots up to 120-140 when I drink alcoholic beverages, smoke marijuana, or take recreational drugs.
I recently had 2 episodes where my heart rate shot up to ~180bpm for around 15-30 minutes with some anxiety (hard to count while being so anxious, and my friend couldn't count properly either because it was going so fast) This was not like a standard anxiety attack but more of akin to too much adrenaline in my body or something. My sympathetic nervous system went crazy. I felt a little calm and weak physically, the total opposite of the whole flight or flight response I would expect from high adrenaline.
It seems these episodes are increasing in their severity. I am considering asking my local doctor about beta/alpha blockers to control theses sudden heart rate increases because they interfere with my life so frequently now that I am constantly checking my heart rate where ever I am and have my Xanax on hand incase I start to have severe anxiety.
Walking up one flight of stairs my heart rate jumps up to ~140bpm and it takes sitting down to lower it in a couple minutes, I constantly find myself hearing my heart pounding in my head, neck, chest, and it worries me so much.
