Suggest Methods To Control Anxiety In Pressure Situation

Hi, I have really bad anxiety when put under pressure. My voice tremors, my hand shakes, my heart pumps and I go bight Red. Obviously there is no miracle cure for these issues. But I’m in high pressure meetings on a weekly basis, and I need some form method/medication of controlling these issue best I can. Any advice on methods/exercise to improve and control my anxiety. And treatments/medication to help in high pressure situations? I would be very grateful for any help you could offer.Cheers, Ben

You have symptoms of anxiety like shakiness of hands, tremors of voice, heart palpitations etc. These symptoms usually occur in pressure situations or during meetings in office. Such symptoms could occur in social anxiety disorder though more details are needed to make final diagnosis. In social anxiety treatment in form of medicines and psychological methods is available.

Medicines like SSRIs are used to reduce the frequency of attacks and to improve confidence. Commonly Fluoxetine, Sertraline etc are used. For symptomatic control of anxiety Propranolol, low dose benzodiazepines can be used. Visit a psychiatrist for prescription of these medicines.

Relaxation exercises like yoga, meditation, Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR), Breathing Exercises help to reduce the symptoms of anxiety. Visit a psychologist for detailed treatment of behaviour therapy.

Hello Ben,
It's not abnormal to get anxious in high pressure situations. So don't feel it's a problem. It's a normal physiological mechanism. But if it's too high dat it is effecting ur performance , den u should be worried. Practicing meditation and yoga ll help u decrease anxiety and build self confidence. Also read personality books and listen to speeches by psychologists. It ll take some time and u ll improve gradually. Even if u r not happy meet a psychologist and have sessions. It ll work definitely. Last choice is psychiatrist and medication but it won't be necessary.
