my husband is aged 29 is addicted to smoking and drinking alcohol, he has been with habit sinnce 15 years earlier he was smoking a pack a day he has reduced smoking to 3 cig a day, i somehow want to make him quit smoking and reduce his alcohol urge, need help
For any deaddiction first and foremost thing is motivation of the patient. If he/she is quite motivated to quit, less chances of recurrence. It's good that your husband has reduced smoking. But he has done it almost for 15 years. so mostly he had already damaged his lungs. If alcohol quantity is also high, his liver might have affected in good quantity. So make him consult to physician, he can be investigated by some investigation like xray, sonography and blood tests. After that report physician can motivate him that if he doesn't quit completely he will have to suffer a lot. Then consult deaddcition specialist. If your husband undrestands that these habits must be stopped for the shake of his family, health and also for economical loss , he can be directly take n to deaddcitciton specialist.
