Suggest Opinion On Applying Minscalp Gel For Hair Growth
Hi, I was suggested to use Minscalp Gel 5% by a dermatologist to keep my hair growth normally. After coming back to home, I am reading through the leaflet inside the box and wondering whether it causes any side affects or not.. Basically it says, If treatment is discontinued, new hair growth usually will be shed within few months Does it stop my natural hair growth also or only the growth caused by this gel?
Hello there, Minscalp is topical minoxidil that you apply on areas of reduced hair growth. It induces hair growth and causes stasis of hair loss. Since it is topical therefore if would trigger hair growth wherever it touches so be careful and use plastic gloves to apply it otherwise your fingers would become hairy. Now if your hair growth is reduced due to genetic reasons i.e baldness runs in your family then you would have hair only in places that you apply minoxidil in. Your natural hair growth will not be adversely affected by minoxidil but if you are not happy with the results you can consider a hair transplant which has more even hair distribution.
Thank you for your query, Dr Arun A
