Suggest Opinion On Taking Betnisol Injection During Pregnancy

my sister is 24 weeks pregnant (by and IVF)and she is going to have twins. so the doctors in that hospital normally advice anybody to take betnisol injection.1st one in 24 weeks, second dose in 32 weeks and like wise. so is it necessary to take this injection as she has done an IVF and having twins? are there any side effects from this? is it ok to take this injection in 24 weeks?

Hi.... Gone through your query. As its a twin pregnancy so we expect there may be preterm delivery for which you should be prepared. By giving Betnesol baby lung will get matured and survival chances drastically increases even in preterm delivery.
Only one course( 2 doses 24 hour apart) of Betnesol is even enough though some doctors prefer to give repeat dose, its personal experience.
Time to start first dose of Betnesol basically is reducing with better availability of neonatal care. Today even a 26 week baby can survive in case there is preterm delivery though chances of abnormaslity in the baby is little higher. More over in twin pregnancy there is earlier lung maturity.
