Suggest Other Options For Swollen Lips For My 30-year-old Son

Dear Dr. Rynne, Thank you for your time! My son, who is 30, has been having a bout with swollen lips. At one point it was so bad that he had to go to the emergency room. He was given an Epi pen in case he feels like his throat is closing. He has been to an allergist, but there is no common denominator of food or beverage that precedes his reaction. He is taking Benadryl and using ice and will see the dermatologist again. In the meantime, is there anything he can do? The dermatologist does not appear to have any answers. Thank you again for your time. He will consult with the doctor next week.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms of your son seem to be related to an allergic reaction.

I suggest to continue using Benadryl to relieve the symptoms.

If the symptoms continue, I suggest to use steroids which can be taken under prescription.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
