Suggest Other Options To Treat Vaginal Itching For A 63-year-old Woman
I m a 63 yo female and have vaginal itch that I cannot get rid of! I ve done the otc vagisil thinking I had a yeast infection but the external itching remains. I m applying vagicaine which helps soothe but still have itching. This began with a heavy dose of antibiotics for a bad cut to my thumb in May. What else can I do to get rid of the itch once and for all?
The treatments you are using are to relieve itchiness and local irritation, they do not treat yeast infection. I would advise you to use Lotriminn cream which contains an antifungal (that treats yeast infection), twice a day at your outer genital area, where the itchiness is for a week.
If you are not better with this you will need to see your doctor and confirm the diagnosis and possibly take prescription medications for yeast infection.
I hope this answers your query and is helpful to you. Let me know I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician.
