Suggest Pain In The Eye With Blurry Vision Post An Injury

Hi. My name is James Rhoades. I was working in my yard this morning and got poked in the eye with the tip of an oleander leaf. That was about six hours ago. I rinsed it immediately, but it s still hurting and my vision is blurry in that eye. I ve had other eye injuries and they usually heal up relatively quickly, but I m just wondering if there s any chance of poison from the oleander causing permanent damage

Hello.

Plant injuries have a high chance of cusing a fungal infection of the eye. Also pain and blurry vision indicate some amount of corneal injury. I suggest you seek medical help immediately. Fungal infections of the eye are asymptomatic and painless for a long duration of time and may caause more lasting damage. Hence it is necessry that you get it treated immediately.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr Geeta
