Suggest Pain Management After Kidney Removal And Hernia Repair

Hi my pain specialist is going to try me on Clonodine for bad nerves syndrome as my nerves system is not working and it s gets confused with Fibromyalgia. Lots of bad pain in all sorts of places randomly, all the time. And also my right Kidney was removed after 2 operations, then I got a hernia so we tried mesh but it did react with fluid build up so we tried a second mesh top the line same thing happened, so my surgeon operated again and because the surgery I had at 10 & 14 years 2 ribs were removed and 14inches of muscle so now that erea has been cut open six times, it is also proving to be very painful. I can not live a normal life as the pain gets out off control with movement. I m on liquid Morhine as needed. Hope you get the gist of that. I m am a female and will be 60 in January, my name is Estelle Thanks

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the repeated surgeries over the area do present with chronic fibrosis condition and damaged nerves pausing debiliating pain syndromes. My guidelines to handle the condition in best possible manner:
- Start deep breathing exercises to make lungs and residual rib regions more robust and strong
- Meditations and YOGA
- Develop an art to avoid certain degree of pain by spiritual techniques
- Local application of analgesic spray or ointment with diclofenac, linseed oil or capsaicin
- Avoid pressure over the sore area
- Avoid sudden bending, weight lifting
- So far as medicines are concerned, tramadol hydrochloride is safest and best efficacious molecule in patient with one kidney which has to be consumed after meals preferably with antacid tablet or syrup formulations

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
