Suggest Possible Tests To Confirm HIV Infection

hi doctor. i'm rajesh from india. i've contacted with my girl friend. but i had sex with her without condom only once. i've get tridot test after 86days.result is negative. i didn't have any symptoms of hiv. i had common cold before itself. now i don't have any problems. i don't know she has hiv or not. so am i safe now or not? pls answer me sir.

Unnecessarily , you are worrying.
Almost 3 months passed after sexual act.
Tridot test is NEGATIVE.
You don't develop any symptoms , which indicates that you are having HIV infection .
For your information and satisfaction I am writing symptoms ( earliest ) of HIV infected person.
Fever, pharyngitis ( common cold was there before sex , so not a cause of concern ) , lymphadenopathy, headache/retroorbital pain ( behind eyes ) , arthralgias/myalgias, anorexia/loss of weight, nausea/vomiting/diarrhea.
Erythematous maculopapular rash, mucocutaneous ulceration ( tongue and in mouth).
You are NOT having any of these symptoms , so no chance of any HIV infection.
Still , you are in dilemma , so get in nucleic acid amplification ( PCR , RNA ) test for HIV confirmation.

Hi

I admire you for positive outlook.

If your girlfriend is not having HIV then you are safe.

If she has HIV then you are in risk zone.

You can go for HIV DNA PCR study for confirmation if require.

But need to kknow your girlfriend 's hiv status and go for testing.

Thank you for query.The chances of transmission of HIV by sexual route is 1/ 200 to 1/2000 even if the partner is HIV infected it is good that the test done tridot after 86 days is negative .though it is conclusive that you do not have HIV it is better you get a test done again after 6 months to be free of anxiety.You can get back for any clarifications with details.Dr Bharatesh D Basti Dermatologist and venereologist
