Suggest Precautions For A Pregnant Woman With Beta Thalassemic Trait
Sir, Madam. I am 36 weeks pregnant and just come to know that I am beta thalassamic trait and because of that my Hb level is not increasing it is 7. Then as per Dr s advice my husband also undergone with the same test and report shows he is also a beta thalassamic trait minor. I am very much worried about my baby as Dr says that 25% chances are there for baby having beta thalassemia major and it can be detected only after 2 months of baby s birth. Please advice is it preventable or any medication should I take to prevent this disease?

Suggest Precautions For A Pregnant Woman With Beta Thalassemic Trait
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic This is a genetic or inherited condition. It cannot be prevented at this stage if it is going to occur. It is possible that the baby may not have any issues at all, remember that there is a 25% chance, this means 1 in 4 chance. If the condition does occur, he may not experience any significant resulting symptoms. I hope this helps
