Suggest Prescription Diuretic For Influenza - Toxic Shock Diagnosed Person

I was diagnosed with post influenza - toxic shock in late 90 s. Since then I go through episodes with the similar symptoms (edema in my legs, arms, sore back, sore jaw). this occurs at least once or twice per year. I need a prescription diuretic to release the excess water gain. I become sluggish and the excess weight is painful this normally last a week and back to normal within 2 weeks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
You can use a diuretic like lasix (Frusemide) about 20 mg per day to start with. This will help to remove excess fluids from your body and reduce the edema. But please do consult your doctor to get some renal function tests to see if everything is normal, as any abnormalities in your kidneys can also cause fluid retention and edema.
