Suggest Preventive Measures After Exposure To Infection And Sewage
my 6 year old was found playing in a clogged outdoor drain at a playground. He put his arm down the drain to find what was clogging it, which appeared to be rocks/leaves. The water had a foul odor and I am worried that it might have contained sewage. I immediately had him home and showered but am concerned about possible illness caused by this exposure. Are their signs to look for ?
I assume you have given your son a thorough shower with soap. There is nothing to worry about as of now. The signs you could look for are any changes in his skin color anywhere in the body, development of blisters or itching sensation anywhere in the body or scalp, any visible swellings with pus or yellow discharge. If you do not see any of these, then do not worry.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shanthi E., General & Family Physician
