Hi,
Atacand (
candesartan) is an
angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used to treat
high blood pressure. The recommended starting dose of Atacand is usually 16 mg once a day, but the dose may be increased to 32 mg once a day if needed. It is usually taken at the same time each day, with or without food.
If your blood pressure is not well controlled with Atacand alone, your doctor may consider adding another medication such as
Norvasc (
amlodipine) in the evening. Norvasc is a
calcium channel blocker that helps to relax blood vessels and improve blood flow, and can be taken with or without food. The recommended starting dose of Norvasc is usually 5 mg once a day, but it may be increased to 10 mg once a day if needed.
However, it is important to discuss any changes in medication or dosage with your doctor before making any changes. They may need to adjust your medication or dosage based on your individual health and medical history. Additionally, it is important to continue monitoring your blood pressure regularly and report any changes or concerns to your doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
