Suggest Remedies For Chiari Malformation In A 3 Year Old Infant
My 3 year old grandson had an MRI Friday to try and rule out causes of the headaches he randomly gets. They said the MRI showed that he had Chiari Malformation 1 and that they were referring him to a neurosurgeon at St. Louis Children s Hospital. We are waiting on the call for the appointment and going crazy. He has headaches sporadically, they are painful but usually only last 15-30 seconds. He has no developmental delays or any other valid symptoms of any kind that bother him. What most likely will be the doctors plan of action for him?
Hi Chiari malformation is a condition in which brain tissues extend in to the spinal canal. The treatment of this condition depends on the symptoms and characteristics of the malformation. If no symptoms, your Doctor may only recommend regular monitoring with examinations and MRI.If headache or other types of pain are the main symptoms, only pain medications may be given. But if the condition become symptomatic with signs of raised pressure, a decompression surgery may be done. Just stay calm, give the child pain medications like paracetamol and wait to see the Neurosurgeon. Hope my answer will help you Best regards
