Suggest Remedies For E Coli Urine Infection In A Baby
my baby son is three and half months old and he has cloudy urine. his urine test report says he has an infection due to E.coli bacteria. colony count > 0000/ml in urine. Pus cells : plenty/HPF, and Albumin : present(+). Doctor advice to give him Topcef 50 for 7 days. But after 7 days the urine colour not changed. My baby have no fever and he is as smart as before. he urinate 10-12 times but amount is not satisfactory (approx. 20ml per time). Is my baby have serious infection. what should i do now....... please help. thank you. pradip sen wb/India.

Yes this seems to be a urinary tract infection ,which will most of the times respond to the antibiotics however if you still suspect that the infection might not be cured , then i would suggest you repeat the tests ie. urine analysis if still there is pus cell , then culture sensitivity of the urine is done which will show the germ and the antibiotic working for it , this would settle the issue most of the times.
