Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
yes I believe I have a cyst probably staff because I ve contracted it previously. my doctor is couple towns away and I probably can t get in there this week anyway. aside from going to the emergency room, getting it lanced, is there anything that can be don from home first if the cyst is still small. like about half the size of a dime
Skin cysts are not dangerous and do not need urgent treatment. All you need to do is to not poke it. If the cyst is getting red and painful you may use local warm compresses to help it organize and drain itself. No antibiotics are needed and no other treatment.
Otherwise, when you can see your doctor, he will be able to numb the area and surgically remove the cyst with its capsule so it does not come back again.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj
