Suggest Remedies For A Dent On The Head Post An Injury

I got hit in the head about 6 hours ago. No bleeding just pain. I was putting ice on it later and notice a dent the size of my thumb. I was told when my children got a bump it was safe if it became a dent it needed to be checked out. I didn t get dizzy ,sick to my stomach, and the pain went away within a hour.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Dent on the head means that your skull has crushed a little inside towards your brain. Even if you are not having any major symptoms & there is no more pain, you should not sit at home.

You are suggested to visit ER, get physically examined. Get all investigations (CT, MRI, PET, X-Ray, Bone scan) done to rule out any pathology.

You should be under observation to deal with any symptoms that arise. Your treatment will depend upon the severity of the pathology detected.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
