Suggest Remedies For A Painful Blister In Esophagus

I ate a hot potato while at work today. My natural reaction was to swallow the piece of food due to working in a kitchen. It was hot enough it lodged itself in my throat and I couldn t cough it up or fully swallow it. I could feel a blister form inside my esophagus. I avoided all hot foods for the rest of the day and drunk cool liquids I don t even want to try coffee in the morning. I at a soft burrito for dinner and had slight pain while swallowing. In fear of the worst I came to the internet to seek advice. I m currently trying to drink cool ice water and it hurts worse then before. It hurts pretty bad. What should I do to treat myself as I have not been able to afford health insurance. Tylonal, aspirin, ibuprofen??? I don t know what to do.

Hello,
I suggest that you avoid ibuprofen and aspirin but use tylenol only for pain. You can use childrens liquid tylenol if pills cause pain. Avoid both cold and hot foods and eat and drink only things that are at room temperature. This should heal up on its own but you do not want to do anything to make it worse. Chew food very well and swallow only small amounts at a time. Avoid acidic foods like citrus and avoid spicy foods.
Get a liquid antacid like maalox or mylanta and take a tablespoon of that 3-4 times a day.
If the pain is getting worse or not getting better in a few days you may need to see a doctor.
Regards
