Suggest Remedies For A Soft Squishy Bump On The Head Post An Injury

My husband fell off a ladder on Sunday hitting his head which knocked him unconscious. There was no bleeding. When I got him conscious, I helped him into the house and a cold pack on his head. It is now Wed and the area where the enormous goose egg was is now bright purple with white spots. It is also soft and squishy to the touch. I have yet to convince him to go to the ER or the Urgent care to get checked out. He refuses to go. He did have a couple days of intermittent dizziness and some blurred vision but says he feels it is getting better and he is fine. Should I be as worried as I feel?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most probably it will be a hematoma. It is nothing but a collection of blood underneath the skin and it is quite common after a fall.

Nothing much to worry and it will settle by itself. However, you can go for an ultrasound to assess the size and severity of the lesion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
