Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i was bitten or stung yesterday on my leg. Yesterday i had 2, 1/4 inch, spots that itched. Today I have at least a two inch round area that is painful to the touch, nearly black in places and swollen. Should I go to the doctor? Or wait to see if it goes away on its own?
In my opinion you should visit ER urgently. Since the swelling at the site of the bite is increasing & it is getting black & painful, you should get a clinical examination done.
It looks like it is a poisonous bite that is causing blood clots below the skin which appears darkened(black). Some bites can be life-threatening, do not neglect.
You can take non-sedating antihistamines, Levocetirizine, one sos and pain relievers (acetaminophen-Tylenol) for relieve.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
