Suggest Remedies For A Wasp Sting

I got a wasp sting on the tip of my nose late yesterday afternoon. It swelled up a bit and numbness. It also is giving me trouble with my sinuses. I put baking soda on it when it first happened. Will this sinus sensation go away, or should I be concerned about it?

Hello,

Wash the area thoroughly with water, remove stings if any. Soak cotton with vinegar & apply it in the affected area.

If swelling continues, you can apply hydrocortisone cream or calamine lotion for relieve. Take analgesics or combiflam (paracetamol+Ibuprofen) to help reduce the inflammation.

Inflammation, swelling & pain should reduce in 24-48 hours but if it does not, you should visit ER, get X-Ray PNS done to rule out any internal swelling that may later cause sinusitis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
