Suggest Remedies For Abdominal Pain And Severe Nausea When Diagnosed With Diverticulitis
I have a history of diverticulitis - 8 or 9 cases so far. Woke up with severe lower abdominal pain and went to hospital. I started vomiting upon drinking barium for CAT scan and scan showed diverticulitis. Started severe nausea and vomiting white foam and yellow liquid almost immediately. After two days of hospital, liquid diet and antibiotics, pain is manageable, but nausea/vomiting is still severe. Also, no appetite at all. What is going on??
IBS, Peptic ulcers, UC often trigger diverticulitis. Liquid diet for a few weeks generally heals bowel but you may need antibiotics if there's an infection.
Gradually switch to fibers. Take more of oatmeal, grains, fresh fruits, veggies. Stay away from alcohol, other addictions & stress.
Take yogurt & probiotics. Avoid oily fatty food, red meat & maintain weight as per BMI. Take antacids & PPI's, Levocetirizine for relieving. Stay on a liquid diet.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
