Suggest Remedies For Blood In Excrement, Diarrhea And Gas Pains After Ingesting Mucinex

I am 62, 5 10 205 lbs. I had a dry cough and took Mucinex on Sunday. Today I have blood in my excrement. I have had an issue with hemorrhoids before/ After taking the Mucinex, yesterday I had diarrhea and severe gas pains. I had to go to the bathroom almost every hour. Is it possible that the Mucinex irritated the lining of my bowels and the blood is showing up today because of that? What can I do to help my bowels recover? (I just took some Pepto)

Hello,

Mucinex is having N acetyl cysteine. It is antioxidant in nature. It can cause gastritis and diarrhoea.

But it can not cause blood in the stool. So blood in stool is mostly due to haemorrhoids.

You should stop taking Mucinex. Start oral rehydration solution (ORS) and zinc tablet.

Also take pantoprazole tablet on empty stomach twice daily. Avoid oily and spicy food. Avoid junk food. Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.
