Suggest Remedies For Breathing Problem During Showering

For a few months now, when I take a shower, I am experiencing problems breathing. It becomes overwhelming. I wind up opening up the shower curtain to finish taking my shower. I turn down the hot water, and even when it has been so very cold for winter mornings, I still have to open up the shower curtain to breathe. I don t understand this..... I have always been able to enjoy a warm or hot shower during the fall and winter. I have a bad back, and have enjoyed the hot water running down my back. Thank you, Cathy

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi Cathy,

Experiencing problems breathing while in shower might be related to blood pressure oscillations especially if your use hot water.

I advise to run further cardiac tests in order to exclude any possible heart issue:
- ECG
- cardiac echo
- stress test

Depending on the tests results, specific treatment will be prescribed.

Another cause might be hormonal changes if you are entering or are being experienced peri/menopause life-stage.

All the best my dear!
Dr.Albana
