General & Family Physician, Dr. Maninder's Response
Hi,
This is becoming an emerging problem in today’s world. The solution lies in slow but steadily creating interest of the kid in other activities that he may find more interesting than watching cartoons. I strongly recommend to slowly engage a child in various types of games that he may find interesting. It is not a sign of any mental illness but only the addition of a screen. At first, he may seem to show resistance to learn anything new but slowly you will see that games are attracting him more that virtual characters. You should engage him in indoor as well as outdoor games but for that, it is essential that you spare some of your time to actually make her interest in such activities.
Try to convince him to make friends to get company for his games. Cycling, skating is the games that your kid can do alone. Do take him along for early morning or at least after dinner walk. There are so many things like playing models, dancing, singing, storytelling and many more.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Maninder, General & Family Physician
