Suggest Remedies For Chills, Back Ache, Fever And Whitish Tongue In A Child

Hi. My 8 year old son is complaining of chills, back ache, feet pain. He has had a cough for a couple of days and has been on a nebulizer using Albuterol since Sunday. He is running a low-grade fever (100.6) and his tongue is white and his breath Has a very sour smell. I gave him 3tsp Children s Advil to help with his body aches. He is 82 lbs. should I take him to Urgent Care or wait to see if his Pediatrician can see him tomorrow?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

As per your complain it seems that your son is suffering from viral infection leading to low grade fever, cough, chills and body aches..

Whitish tongue and bad breath can be due to yeast infection of tongue known as Oral Thrush and the cause is low immunity due to infection and also a major cause is Albuterol inhaler that is a steroid inhaler and steroids oral or inhalational are common cause for yeast infection or oral thrush..

I would therefore suggest you to consult a Paediatrician and get him evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like blood test and microscopy of scrapings from the tongue can help in diagnosis and treated accordingly..

In case of thrush he can be advised antifungal mouth rinses and lozenges like Candid mouth paint and Clotrimazole lozenges to resolve thrush..
Also always make him wash his mouth thoroughly after taking inhaler..
Make him drink plenty of water..
Give tylenol to reduce fever ad Ibuprofen for pains..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
