Suggest Remedies For Constipation In An Infant

Hi, my baby is a month old on formula and breastmilk sometimes. Since he turned 2 weeks, he strains a lot to poo but is able to pass stools once daily. But since yesterday, he s not passed any and it s obvious he s uncomfortable to the point of tears. I spoke to our paediatrician and she said it wasn t a problem but I m worried seeing him like that. He s not sleeping well because of this. Could you be of help?

Thanks for asking HCM.

Dear parent
It is very common for formula fed infant to be constipated for about 2 to 3 days. So, if he is not passing motion for 1 or 2 days just be relaxed. However, you can help him out with the following remedies to ease out his pain while straining.

1. Try to give him as much as breast milk as you can throughout day.
2. Breast milk has natural mild luxative effect thereby decreasing chances of constipation.
3. It has all essential nutrients requited for the babies up to six months.
4. Breast milk increases immmunity of infant against around 100 disease and helps in proper weight gain in an infant.
5. Breast milk is recommended Every 2 hourly 15 minutes from each breast.
6. Try giving him Gripe water on Bonisson drops after every feed.

Please follow theses recommendation and let me know.
Thanks.
