Hello,

Generally, SSRI drugs such as citalopram or sertraline are quite effective in treating depression. They need to be taken regularly and the patient needs to be regularly followed up with his doctor to make sure the right dose is being taken.

On the other hand, unfortunately, there are patients that need more than one drug and sometimes trying several ones is needed. A combination of an SSRI with mirtazapine is a possibly good option.

Patients may also need some psychotherapy to help improve with their symptoms and boost the effect of their medications, thus I would recommend you to look for a good psychotherapist that can give you some sessions.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
