Suggest Remedies For Fever And Poor Appetite In An Infant

My 15 month old grandson is overseas suffering from 38-39oC fever due to unfit food fed, presumably solid food(indigestion). No appetite for 24 hours n been sleeping the entire day. What can she do. Is it best to let him continue to fast, for how long. They intend to consult the doctor tomorrow but it will be Sunday n I m concerned she might not be able to get help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I don't believe this high fever of 38-39°C is related to food indigestion or intolerance.

I think it is related to infection possibly viral or bacterial. You should check him for other symptoms. Fasting is not advisable. Continue to feed him milk, soups and food he likes and digests well. You can also do a stool culture.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
