Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a herniated the bone doctor told me i had a mri scan he said it was big injury and he reccomand surgery for my nerve my dad said no i am going to see him october 6 should i say yes to the surgery i can t sit for a long time and he also my left side is weaker than my right side what should i do.
Noted your history of herniated disc and your Doctor has advised surgery. As per the history you have provided, there is weakness on left side as compared to the right side, MRI is showing big injury. These are indications for surgery for the herniated disc. There is no other way that the injured disc can be replaced back to original position. Most probably there is rupture of the outer capsule. Hence surgery is the only option to remove the pressure on the spinal cord, the compression of which is causing weakness on one side and you must have other symptoms too. Go for the surgery as soon as possible. Delay can cause further harm that may be irreversible.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
