Understanding your concern. As per your query you have impaired hearing in left ear which could be due to Otosclerosis meniere's disease , autoimmune inner ear disease , very loud noise , acoustic neuroma , physical head injury. Chances of hearing back from ear after sensorineural hearing loss are very less. Airplane pressure will build little more pressure. You should consult an Otolayngologist and get evaluated and an Otoscopic examination can be diagnostic. Many a times the patients start recovering within 48 to 72 hours after taking steroids, antibiotics and decongestants. In case if the injury is severe and there is large perforation of the ear drum surgical correction may be advised. Sometimes doctor may recommend tympanoplasty.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
