Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am on Invega Sustana and lack energy. My mind is calm but I lack interest or desire. I just tried avililphia for the last month with terrible results. Is this just a side effect of the injection or is there another medication that can be applied to address this concern of mine?
Invega Sustana is a medication used to treat certain mental/mood disorders (such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder). Paliperidone is an anti psychotic drug (atypical type). It works by helping to restore the balance of certain natural chemicals (neurotransmitters) in the brain. Loss of libido is a part of all neuropsychiatric illnesses. Patients lose interest in all the activities which used to give pleasure in the past like food and sex. This is not a side effect of your medication but is due to your primary disease. It will improve as your primary disease improves.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
