Suggest Remedies For Mucus Leakage From Back Passage Post Failed Prolapsed Bowel Surgery

Almost a year ago I had an operation (Dormes technique) for a prolapsed bowel. Unfortunately the operation didn t work and the bowel is now permanently outside my body and I have a constant problem with mucus from my back passage. What can I take to dry up this problem?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I am sorry to hear about the failed surgery for prolapsed bowel, mostly rectal prolapse issue. There are systemic medications as atropine sulfate or others which will help to dry the secretions, but it would pause much of the systemic issues rather than local benefit only. A revision reconstructive surgery would be the best approach to discuss with the treating ano rectal surgeon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
