Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son gets up every night with night terrors, he often forgets instructions unless I give just one and he has always been sensitive to noise, smell and taste. He is so concentrated on what he s doing that it s hard to break the spell . He frequently has food around his mouth when eating but more importantly feels nauseous all day every day. He is 9 and his symptoms are getting worse. I am a special education tutor for adults and although my other two children are fine, I am wondering if he is dyspraxiic but obviously don t want my experience to cloud my judgement!
He needs to be evaluated by a psychiatrist bro rule out childhood depression or phobias so that detailed psychological assessment, motivational psychologist sessions as well as behaviour modification if needed may be started. Pharmacological therapy may not be needed at this stage but symptoms shouldn't be ignored.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
