Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I believe I have oral thrush but I can not afford to go to the doctor. My sister in law is a nurse and feels as tho it is oral thrush as well. What are some over the counter medications or at home remedies that I can try to cure this? I have had it for a few weeks now
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your query Oral thrush is an Yeast infection over the tongue and manifests as white coating over the tongue
It can occur due to causes like dry mouth, antibiotic and steroid intake, poor immunity like in diabetes, hormonal changes etc..
I would suggest you to start gargling with antifungal mouthwash like Nystatin mouthwash and suck Clotrimazole lozenges.. You should add plenty of yoghurt and garlic in diet.. Drink plenty of water..
In case if it does not improve in about 15 days you need to consult an Oral Physician and he can do a clinical evaluation and advise you oal antifungal medications like Fluconazole, Itraconazole etc along with other remedies as I advised above..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
