Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 53 years old and I run 4 days a week. For the past year I have run on a treadmill but last week I decided to run outdoors again. That afternoon, my right side back began hurting as if I had pulled a muscle. It was very bad but began to ease up after taking Aleve for a few days. I was finally able to run again day before yesterday and it has started hurting again. It is very bad. It hurts if I twist to move and only sometimes when I breath I breath deeply.
Dear patient it seems you have back sprain which needs proper rest. Avoid running for a week and take pain killers like diclofenac twice a day. Then start gradually increasing running so that your muscles get adjusted to strain.
